15/04/2019 - My first published article

My research into the Waples family had been at a standstill for 35 years until a recent breakthrough enabled me to take that history back another two generations. I married classic genealogical strategy with some innovative research techniques. For this reason, the Society of Australian Genealogists decided to publish my article The Waples Roadblock in the March 2019 issue of its journal, Descent. This is the first time I have had an article published (other than on this website).

My article illustrates the principle of researching other family members to get around a roadblock on your main line of ancestors. It also outlines the method and tactics that I employed in successfully overcoming my roadblock. And it demonstrates how an online database (Ancestry.com in this case) can be mined and sifted to find the needle in the haystack.
